Internet problems

I had the msblast worm and was unable to get on the
internet. I deleted the msblast.exe file and I down loaded
the patch onto a floppy and manually installed it in my
home computer. I am still having problems accessing the
internet. When I try to access the internet using dsl and
internet explorer I get web page not available. I tried
to repair internet explorer but do not have that option
available. I installed AOL and connected to the internet
using my 56k modem but once signed on I get get to the AOL
home page but can not access the web. I alos get an error
with logging on to AOL shutdown AOL and sign in again.
After talking to several techs from AOL and Bellsouth they
say that I am having trouble with my TCP/IP files. I went
to Control panel, Network connections, DSL dial up
connections, selected properties, the Internet protocol
box is checked. I tried to install it and it says that it
cannot find the file. In the Local connection properties
Internet protocal does not show up. I tried to reset netsh
from DOS but nothing happened. I typed it in and hit
enter and another c:\ came up. I am lost now.

The first question I always ask is if you can ping the web sites. if not,
check the DNS settings first.
