AOL sign-on problem

H

I use Adelphia.net to access the Internet. I use Internet
Explorer and OUTLOOK without problems. However, when I
sign-on using AOL 9.0 Optimized on this Sony PCG-GRX560
Notebook (running XP Professional) I get the following
error message and cannot browse the web from AOL.

"AOL has detected and error with your connection to the
Internet."

AOL Technical Support has not been able to fix the
problem. I did not get any satisfactory help from Sony
Technical Support.

My Dell Desktop computer does not experience this AOL
problem.

Please suggest a remedy. Thanks, Dennis

Does the Sony PCG-GRX560 running XP Pro have XP Service Pack 1A
and all XP critical updates installed?

If not, I suggest you install them. XP SP1A will need to be installed
separately and then reboot and go back and install the XP critical
updates and reboot again. Temporarily disable your Anti Virus when
installing SP1A and the critical updates. The easiest way to get to the
Windows Update site is to open Internet Explorer and click on Tools
at the top and then Windows Update. After that, see if that AOL error
has been resolved.

I will refrain from expressing my opinion of AOL (any version).
