Hi
Just got my hands on the latest internet.au magazine and there's a tutorial "Starting out with PHP". The first step is setting up PHP on the machine
The guy says

quote
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are going to assume that IIS is running on your machine. To check if this is installed on your machine, go to "Administrative Tools" in your Control Panel. If you have "Internet Services Manager" and/or "Personal Web Manager" in your "Administrative Tools", then you are running a Web server on your machine. If either of these options does not appear, then you can install IIS via the "Add/Remove Programs" in your control panel. Simply go to "Windows Components" in "Add/Remove Programs" and place a tick next to "Internet Information Services (IIS)"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went to "Administrative Tools" and neither option was there. I went to "Add/Remove Programs" - "Windows Components" and there was no IIS
I went to microsoft and all I could find re: IIS was guff about security patches
Am I missing something here
I'm using Windows XP
Does anyone know what I need to do so that I can work with PHP
Thanks
K

Your compuer should work fine with PHP.....

If you have Internet Explorer 4+ it should be fine, dont
worry about this IIS stuff, best bet is that its on your
computer.

Hi:

I am not sure if you run XP Pro or Home, but just in case it's Pro

Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services and browse down to find if IIS
Admin is listed, and if listed, check if it's running, and if not, set it to
run automatic and reboot.

If not listed, you will need to install the services and follow add/remove
Windows Components suggestions provided before.
