internet file sharing problem

i've bought a file sharing program that requires either port 139 or445 to be
unblocked.how do i do this?im using xp home edition with sp2 and norton
internet security 2005.windows fire wall is disabled. my ISP say they do not
block any ports and i've been in contact with Norton so i'm satisfied that
their firewall is not the problem,infact I turned off Nortons firewall and
used a port scan and these ports still came up blocked. this is driving me up
the wall,i've spent hours reading up on this.during which i've learned lots
of things but not what i need. HELP ME PLEASE

Are you using a router? If so you will need to set up port forwarding on the
router to open those ports to the computer.
