Internet exxplorer 6 under XP won't access the net, but ping works, and firefox can.

Internet exxplorer won't access the net and I have tried
reinstalling XP (repair), it must be the registry or some
file, does anyone have a list of things I can try?

I can access the net just fine with firefox, just so you
know and I can ping and everything. So I know it
has to be a software/settings problem.

Uninstall/Repair IE6:

= Click Start >> Control Panel>>Network and Internet Connections >> Double
click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced.
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Click Connection Tab then click LAN settings Button andmake sure there is no
proxy setting check box is checked, uncheck all there.

Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
[ ] Disable script Debugging (internet Explorer) <= check this box
[ ] Disable Script Debugging (Other) <= check this box

Click [OK] to apply your changes and close the IE properties.

= Then Open a run command and type in these DLLs to re-register them:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 Wintrust.dll
regsvr32 Mssip32.dll
regsvr32 Initpki.dll
regsvr32 Msjava.dll
regsvr32 Gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 Sccbase.dll
regsvr32 Slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Cryptdlg.dll
regsvr32 Dssenh.dll
regsvr32 Rsaenh.dll

= Either try to update your windows scripting engine or Java version on your
computer, try to uninstall the old Java first.

Open a run command and type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]

or you can use this winsock fixer:

Execute and t will prompt you to restart, please do so. and see if your
issue or part of it will resolve.

Scan your machine for malware and viruses.
