internet explorer

I have internet explorer 6 on my computer, my os is 98se,
but ie6 keeps freezing and my computer won't close down
properly. what is the problem please?

Screen freezes with IE are most commonly caused by video drivers that need
updating. Go to the web site of your video card manufacturer and get the
latest drivers for your card. As a work around, try turning down your
hardware acceleration, color depth, and/or screen resolution. If these
work, then new drivers are in order.

Other causes are scripting engines that need reinstalled or updated:

And, if you are using a McAfee anti-virus program, and it's set to scan all
files, try changing it to scan programs and documents only.
