I have previously entered a question regarding removal and
reinstall of I/E 6 an recieved no answer. I am
experiencing a problem with browsing. I launch any URL
and I experience a long delay between the downloading of
the page completion and the ability to do anything such as
scroll, close, etc. I have contacted my ISP Tech support
and they say the problem is Software??? They recomend
that I reinstall I/E 6 and see if that fixes the problem.
I cannot figure out how to do that. Can anyone help me
with a recommendation as how to trouble shoot this problem
or what the resolution may be. Thanks in advance

Well first off what operating system are you using?

if you go into (add/remove programs) there is an option
that you can add or remove windows components.

in this list you will find that you may remove IE6

Warning - this may disable your ability to download it
again from windows update...

so just a heads up - so what i would do is if you can
obtain a copy of it by downloading it and burning it on cd
and then install it that way..

plus make sure you are always getting the updates ....keep
your security up!!!

Toreigr: Thanks for the reply. I reinstalled IE6 using
the info that you recommended and it makes no difference.
In order to isolate my problem I downloaded Netscape
Navigator and it works perfectly, proving that the problem
is with I/E. Do you have any further suggestions that will
lead to a fix of I/E 6.0 or my system?? I much prefer I/E
over Netscape. Thanks

Kristan: First off it's Win2k, and although there is an
entry to check in Add - Remove Windows Components it does
nothing when selected and executed. Research of Win2k
knowledge base shows that the Microsoft people
intentionaly removed the ability to remove I/E6 and O/E
from the system " so that OEM software could count on
stability of the code". Bottom line IE/6 cannot be
removed. You can mess with the Registry to fake out the
system so that you can re-install I/E6 SP1 so that the
code is replaced but that is all. Thanks for your help.
I have solved the problem.
