Internet explorer very slow

I have been using Internet Explorer Version 6 on my
Windows 98 SE for the past 6 months with very satisfactory
performance.
Suddenly, the last few days, I am experiencing slow and
eratic movement of the site when using the bar scroll. On
one site in paticular, my bank site, as soon as I go
online,this site becomes very very slow, almost as though
there is a lot of activity going on which it has to wait
for.
In desparation, I downloaded Netscape, and all the sites
work perfectly when I use Netscape.
I prefer and am used to Internet Explorer and would like
to fix my problem. Can anybody give me some advice ????
