Mike
I have the above problem in "subject", which was also the
subject of article q180946. I have done all of the following:
1. downloaded patch to 6.0 IE
2. spoke with several HP customer service reps (for hours),
who helped me with MANY various approaches like the
"temporary" solution in the above article (setting the
globaluseroffline DWORD value to the value 0; working
through System Restore, etc.
The only thing I have not done at this point is uninstall
6.0 and download a previous version (5.0?)
I might add that I believe a Trojan virus might still be
lurking on my computer somewhere. I uninstalled Norton
antivirus late summer/early fall and installed Mcaffee.
Norton had identified the virus but was not able to delete
it. While Mcafee, I believe, found it but only quarantined it.
In the meantime, I'm forced to use Netscape instead of IE
Thanks
