Internet Explorer problems

I just encountered this error saying, " Microsoft Internet
Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience " It then went on to say "
Please tell Microsoft about this problem ". I sent the
error and still can't open my browser.I am running a Win2K
Pro on a Dell Latitude C610. Could anyone please advise on
what is happening ?
