I turn on the pop-up blocker in IE and set it to block all pop-ups. I still
get a lot of pop-ups.

Using IE Version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519. Security settings
for Internet are at default level. Privacy settings are to block third-party
cookies and accept first-party and session cookies.

Using Windows XP sp2 home edition, latest updates, no malware or viruses.

You got what you paid for. You could try other freebies, like Google
Toolbar, but it isn't perfect, either. I use PopUpCop but there are other
good popup blockers out there.

I hope not to start a flame, but I think you cannot use FireFox
instead of ie, can you? I had barely a couple of site that managed to
escape its anti-pop-up features (and they are less and less as
newer versions comes out)
Just because ie is shipped with the os (and you don't have to
separately
paid for it) it does not mean ie is always the best browser for every
site...
even if I must admit that when I tried ie 4 on Solaris (I think it was

on 1999) I had to complain that netscape was so "heavy" and
slow... maybe it was also because of such considerations that
the open source community realized it was time to improve
the existing free browsers... And the current results is that FireFox
is
a valid altenative in most environment ;-P
bye,

I noticed this behavior for the last couple of months. I have noticed
from
the past that all the popup blockers that I have used start out working
really well and the *pests* figure out a way around them after time.

I find that the Google toolbar is more effective at blocking pop-ups than
(1) IE 7's pop-up blocker (2) Firefox's and (3) McAfee's. The latter doesn't
even work.

Regards,

John

Yeah, don't play with BETA software. Wait for the final release.
