recently, my IE has stopped responding to Alt+f4 or
close, or pressing the close icon on the title bar. I
need help on what do. I tried reinstalling IE but it said
my version was newer so it could not install over it.

thanks in advance

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite)

Download, install, *update* and run these two programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ Remove items listed in red- others are
optional.

If unsuccessful with those programs, try CWShredder from
http://www.net-integration.net/tools/hijackthis.html

Additional information, including security tips at:
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

If not caused by malware, consider disabling (for diagnostic purposes)
legitimate programs running in the background which might be interacting
with IE- security, antivirus, etc. You may have to uninstall then reinstall
a program.

Hope this helps,
Don

I dled adaware and it got rid of a lot of stuff that said
malware. But the problem still persists

You should also run Spybot and CWShredder. They don't always find the same
things.

And it could be a legitimate program which is causing this. Look at programs
running in the background.
