Internet Explorer keeps crashing

I have Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2. At various times my explorer windows just
close with no error message or warning. I tried KBase article 318378 to
repair or reinstall IE. When I tried to reinstall IE I get a message saying
that there is currently a newer version installed. The KB article 318378
says I need to change an "IsInstalled" registry key value from 1 to 0 to
avoid getting the "newer version installed" error message. This did
nothing....whenever I try to install I still get the error that setup has
detected a newer version already installed.

Any help will be most appreciated!!!!!

You have to uninstall Windows XP Service Pack 2 before you can use that
article. Just reinstall SP2.
