Internet Explorer not allowing browsing

I am using IE 5.5 on Windows 98 SE, and after I dial in
successfully to my ISP, anytime I try to navigate
throught the Internet, my browser says "Internet Explorer
could not open that search page." or "This page cannot be
displayed." It will not browse no matter what I try.
