I had downloaded IE 7 from MS website, but so many miseries occurred with my
system, I un-installed it in Control Panel ... now there is no IE at all.

What do I do?

Add/Remove Programs | Add/Remove Windows Components: Is IE enabled (checked)
here?

Does C:|Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE <=this file exist?

Start | Run | IEXPLORE.EXE | OK => what happens?

Do you use a Registry cleaner?

That should *not* be possible! Uninstalling IE7 from the control panel
applet should simply roll back the installation and leave you with
IE6.

Have you tried a repair install of XP?

No browser -- no IE 6 on SEARCH. on Run nothing happens but a bump on my
monitor ...

I have OneCare on my desk top -- isn't that a registry cleaner, too??

IEXPLORE.EXE yes, as IE7 only -- did SEARCH for same with no results.

no, not yet ... thank you...

I inserted my CD from my Windows Folder (WINDOWS Professional) and there was
no repair install option but a window reported that its not the same v. of
Windows that I have on my computer --- mine is a newer version. How could
that be????

I also have the CD for WXP SP2

Next???

In that case, the best thing to do, if you can, is to "slipstream" your copy
of SP2 onto a copy of your XP CD. By "if you can", I'm referring to some,
not all, OEM XP install CDs that have other updates incorporated and won't
slipstream. Thankfully, these aren't really common; I've only run into
them as DELL cds.

Google "Slipstream XP" and "autostreamer" to get further. You may need to
do this on another system, and you may need some help.

THen you can do the repair install, and the service pack will be
incorporated.

You might also use another system to download Firefox to a USB stick or CD,
and install that to get yourself a browser so you can get a bit further
without the repair install.

Great! I have to use adaptive software on the computer due to being blind
....

But, I went ahead and did a SysRestrore back to 5/31 --- took 2 boots for
thing to "click" without jumping and dying but it worked ... so far.

haven't a clue about slipstreaming ... heavens.

My XP Pro CD reported: "Setup cannot continue because the version of
Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD.
Warning: If you decide to delete the newer version of Windows that is
currently installed on your computer, the files and settings cannot be
recovered."

How on earth, or when, did that happen? Does IE 7 slip another v. of Windows
in on us?

Not sure system's safe right now ... worrying.

I'm all right for now -- thanks Laughingstar ...

"Internet Explorer" is not an available option in Add/Remove Windows
Components?

Repost:
Yes, OneCare includes a "Registry cleaner."

I am pretty certain that installing IE7 updates many of the windows
components (like DLLs, for example)
