Internet Explorer hangs or is very slow in Win XP via DSL connection

Mark Molau

We have been using Internet Explorer on Win XP
Professional for over a year now and recently we have
been experiencing problems on and off with IE performance.

In short - IE either hangs or is extremely slow for a few
days and then suddenly is lightning quick again (via our
Pacific Bell home DSL line). The strange thing is that
Outlook performance is fine on this same computer and
other computers on our home network operate just fine in
IE and our DSL connection when this particular computer
is having problems.

Additionally, we have Norton Internet Security and
Antivirus professional on this computer and only Norton
AV Pro on the other non-affected computers. I have tried
disabling both on the afflicted computer and this has not
improved our IE performance issues one bit.

Thanks anyone for your help and suggestions!

Mark,
The first thing to do is to scan your system for the possibility of
unknown\unwanted spyware or parasites that may be causing your problem(s).
