internet explorer error message

I use a windows xp home edition. When i try to launch my
internet explorer i get this error message:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
runtime error
Program: C\Program files\Internet explore\explore.exe

"This application has requested the runtime to terminate
it in an unusual way. Pls contact the application's
support team for more information".

What does this mean and what do i do.
