Internet Explorer error, has to shut down

John

After I'm on internet explorer for about 15 or 20
minutes, a window pops up & tells me (microsoft internet
explorer has caused an error in user.exe) Explorer will
now close.
Also, if I go to the windows update page; The page comes
up, but as soon as it starts to scan my computer for
available updates, I get a error that says Internet
Explorer has encountered a problem & needs to close.
I've uninstalled IE6 SP1 & reinstalled 3 times but it
does'nt cure the problem.
Please Help

Try the "Repair" Feature of IE in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Reboot - that is the normal process of correcting a corrupt IE installation.
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs - highlight IE6 and Internet Tools.
Click remove > select the "repair" dialog.

Post back of the IE shutdown errors persist, you may have other issues that need
addressing.
