Internet Explorer cannot connect after MSN was uninstalled.

I had MSN on my PC and had it setup so a younger user could only connect to
the internet if going through MSN using its security. Basically the user
could not just fire up internet explorer and use it to get around the
parental controls of MSN. I had to uninstall MSN because of a problem and
then I was going to download MSN and reinstall. I forgot about the settings
of MSN and now internet explorer will not connect to any websites. I know I
am connected to the internet because I can ping websites from a command
prompt. What do I have to do to get the secutiry settings back to defailt on
IE? I tried setting everything to defailt levels as well as uninstalling and
reinstalling IE. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying
everything I can to not have to wipe Windows and reinstall it.

So you have connection but you don't have Internet access, right?.
Let forget about the MSN security for now and get you have Internet access.
First try those:
Open a run command and type in:
CMD.exe click [OK] and on the New command prompt type this:
ipconfig /flushdns Hit Enter on your Keyboard.
On the new command prompt type this:
ipconfig /release or renew then Hit Enter on your Keyboard.
Again on the command prompt type:
netsh winsock reset Hit Enter and on the new command prompt type:
Exit to close the prompt command.
Reboot/Turn OFF the machine and Start it again and see if you can access
any website.
If the above didn't help then write back with more information about the IE
version, operating system version, the way you connect to the internet
(wired/modem/DSL/Router, or wireless) and what anti-virus you have installed
on the machine now.
HTH.
Let us know.
