Internet Explorer Address Bar

Where can i find information on exactly what gets saved
in the address bar history? I am interested in knowing
how an address gets saved in the address bar pulldown. I
have search kb with no success. Also any information on
how IE caches and saves all information about sites
visited and how it generates history. If anyone knows of
a kb article that has this information please post that
