When I try to download the new version, it tells me that
this does not have microsoft testing approval and will not
install. What is wrong?

Windows XP already comes with IE6 installed. You can d/l updates and
service packs.
IE6 on MS web site is mainly for other versions of Windows eg
98,NT,2000 etc
