Hi John :)

You don't mention which version of Windows you are using, so I'll take a
guess at some suggestions. Try the following and see if they help:

First, press F7 and see if the IE Toolbars return. If so, click on
View>Toolbars and be sure the ones you want are checked. If not, check
them.

If no joy, thy the following:

For XP only -

Restore Missing Toolbars, Menubars and Address Bar in Windows Explorer and
Internet Explorer - XP

This utility will allow you to quickly and easily restore the missing
toolbars, menubars and add address bars in Windows Explorer and Internet
Explorer. This utility is freeware.

Usage: Download the ZIP file below and extract the contents to your hard
disk. Double click the XP_ToolbarFix.exe file you extracted. Choose which
toolbars to repair and click the Repair button. To uninstall, simply delete
XP_ToolbarFix.exe.

This utility is only recommended for Windows XP. It has not been tested with
other platforms. If you wish to run it on another OS, you will need to
install the VB6 Runtime libraries.

As for HTTP websites, are you getting any error messages when you try to
open the websites? If so, please post the exact wording, as there can be a
variety of reasons.

If possible, try doing a Restore to a date prior to the date you installed
the last update if possible and see if your access to these sites is
restored. If you have XP:

If a Restore is not possible, then uninstall the last update and see if that
helps. There have been some updates that have caused various problems.

Hope this helps.

Sorry I should have worded it differently, the toolbar is there but, for
example when I click ‘tools’ and then ‘internet options’ nothing happens.
There is no error message when I try to load http pages, just a blank
screen. Strange that everything works fine with https sites including the
toolbar.

Will try uninstalling the recent windows updates, seems quite a few people
are having this problem at the moment.

Hi John :)

Ok...while you still have not provided the version of Windows you are using,
let's change the strategy a bit:

Go to Start>Run>and register the following dll's by using the regsvr32
command.

Try the first 2, then see if it resolves the problem. If not then register
the rest of the .dll's:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 scrrun.dll
regsvr32 msxml.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 msjava.dll

If that doesn't work, then check out the following article and do the
additional steps outlined there if it applies to your OS. Look up the sites
on another PC if you can't access them from the affected machine and print
out the instructions.

Internet Options Lock Out -
If you have SpyBot S & D installed, go to SpyBot - Search and Destroy
Immunize, and UNcheck the "Lock IE Control Panel..." box.

or...if they apply to your OS:

IE6 opens blank/empty/seethrough windows or have to refresh to see contents

It is also possible that you have some form or malware on your system that
may be causing the problem. If recently installed XP SP2, it may have
exposed some hidden scumware that was not previously detected that can cause
such problems:
