I have WinXP Pro SP2 installed.
Of course in this case my IE is IE6, SP2
After installing Maxthon browser ver. 1.1.120 my IE6 became an orphan
to all MS sites because WU and Office update does not recognize my IE6.
When I go to WU site, WU returns me the following page

Thank you for your interest in Windows Update

Windows Update is the online extension of Windows that helps you get the
most out of your computer.

You need to be running a version of Internet Explorer 5 or higher in order
to use Windows Update.

Download the latest version of Internet Explorer

Once Internet Explorer is installed, you can go to the Windows Update site
by typing http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com into the address bar of
Internet Explorer.

If you prefer to use a different Web browser, updates to Windows may be
downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center.

That is all! But I HAVE IE6 SP2 installed!

And what is more strange Office Update site returns the following:

Sorry, the Office Update site does not support Office for Mac
Help

Office for Mac updates can be found on the Mactopia site.

I have aready uninstalled Maxthon browser, but my IE has not recovered.
It is still cannot be recognized by MS sites and some other sites as well.
What is the reason?

I'm not familiar with the "Maxthon browser", but it obviously has
damaged/changed the original IE6 files. If it hasn't been very long
since you installed the Maxthon browser, do a System Restore to before
you did. If it has been too long, then try running the System File
Checker to replace damaged/altered system files:

Start>Run sfc /scannow [enter]
