Internet Explorer 6 download?????????

I want to download IE 6. The only thing I can find is IE 7. It's like once a
new version is available, Microsoft wants you to quit using the old version
even if you like it better than the newer version. Anyway, if someone will
furnish me with a link to where I can download IE 6 - not IE 6 sp1, but IE 6
the web browser, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

This is the link to download IE6, but it does contain SP1.

You don't need to download anything. If you upgraded to IE7 and want to go
back to IE6, just uninstall IE7 from Add/Remove programs.

I think it's a mistake to do that, but it's your choice and easy to do.

But if you go into the 'microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general' newsgroup
you'll soon see that your method fails more times than succeeds.

Plus, if you do what Ken suggests you will have problems with toolbars,
favourites etc, plus, it will always ask you to upgrade. Here is a tool that
uses .NET Framework 1.1 to block the IE7 upgrade:

I hope this helps,

IE 6 is so much better than IE 7

I told that to Microsoft when I was beta testing it for them.

Here's a tool that doesn't require .NET Framework 1.1.

Download and run "IE70Blocker.cmd /B" which is contained in the IE7 Blocker
Toolkit:

Toolkit to Disable Automatic Delivery of Internet Explorer 7
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...F7-5D44-482B-9DBD-869B4A90159C&displaylang=en

BTW, after uninstalling IE7 I had no problems with Toolbars, Favorites, or
anything else in IE6. I also had no more problems with Outlook 2002.

You don't need a tool to stop windows update from offering the IE7 update.

I would never use an open source browser due to being able to view the code
& bypass the security

If you go to the newsgroup I mentioned in another post in this thread you'll
see so many people complaining about how terrible IE 7 is. So, if you have a
few days ask them why they are reverting back to IE 6 from IE 7.

Just a few problems contantly discussed about IE 7:

Tabs
Shutting down when opening
Run Once page
Favourite problems
Freezing machines
Floating toolbar
Phishing filter
....
The list is endless.

I have IE 7 on my 2003 Server & IE 6 SP1 on my development machines. IE 6 is
a lot better.

About you post of the toolkit: Most people have the Framework installed
anyway. I was just pointing that out to the OP. Why do you need this huge
download from Microsoft just to change one registry key because that's all
that is needed to block the IE 7 upgrade?

You mean if you tick the box in Windows Update not to show that update
again, but its the Automatic Update that still downloads it

Hid it in windows update or and/or set automatic updates to notify you of
updates and when it's offered decline and hide it. No tool is needed.
