frustrated

Unable to display pages when searching from the address
bar.
Tried different solutions without success such as:

reinstall, uncheck Security settings SSL & TS, deleting the
index.dat files (unable to delete because some other
process seems to use it).

Notice that it is writing search addresses incorectly.
For example, it writes http:\\\% instead of http:\\%.
Looks like this is getting to be a typical browser
problem. See many related articles but no solution. If
anyone has any ideas, could give me a clue.
