When I try and open up my browser, it closes on me. There are no error
messages. It displays for about 2 seconds and then crashes. Is there
something I can do to fix this? Any downloads? Is this caused by a virus
on my computer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have multiple clients calling me with the same problem. Could this
be cause by a windows update, or possibly a new virus?

One of the browser add-ons may be causing the crash. To confirm that,
disable the third-party add-ons temporarily.

How to disable third-party tool bands and Browser Helper Objects:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298931/

If that solves the problem, you need to enable the option again. But this
time, disable the add-ons one at a time (using the Manage Add-ons feature
added in XP / IE6 SP2) to test.

I don't know why this is happening, but it seems that this behavior is
being triggered by something that has happened to the Yahoo Toolbar.
So far the only way we found to get around this behavior is to
uninstall the Yahoo Toolbar or else completely disable it. The
uninstallation has so far been as simple as using the Add/Remove
Programs control panel.

Hope this helps,

Delenne

FYI:

One of my clients whom this is affecting has run Trend Micro's on-line
virus scan (House Call) and the scan came up clean.

Thank you Delenne,

I had one of my clients confirm that they were using the Yahoo toolbar.
I had them uninstall it and now IE is up and running.

Kind of right about the third-party addons. We found that it seems to
be triggered by an unknown change to the Yahoo Toolbar. It seems that
uninstalling/disabling that product seems to do the trick.

You're welcome, Delenne. IE 6 (in Windows XP especially) does not crash
automatically. It must be caused by add-ons or other buggy application
running in the background.
