Internet connectivity

I have two PCs connected to a router/switch which is the connected to a cable modem. Both PCs were able to connect to the internet until a few days ago. Now one connects to the internet but not the other.Other than not connect to the internet everything else works OK. I ran a IPCOFIG/ALL on it and it shows a Auto config ip address of 169.254.254.181. I checked all the cables, no problem. I looked in Device manager and there were yellow exclamation marks on WAN Miniport(IP) and WAN miniport (IP) #2. I went thro the steps outlined in article 810979 of the MS knowledge base but still cannot get rid of the two WAN Miniports as it keeps saying Removal failed needed for boot up
I even reinstalled the OS
Please let me know what to do.

Most likely a cable problem, bad nic problem, or a bad port on the other end
of the patch cable. The 169 address is the "default" that the machine gets
when it cannot get a response from a DHCP Server to recieve the right
address.
