TCIP IN REGISTRY

I have a computer that will not connect to the internet even though my local
area connection is enabled. also i am unable to uninstall "internet protocol
tcp/ip"

is it ok to delete the "tcpip" key in the registry, and if so, will it
reinstall itself correctly on a reboot. in addition, in the device manager
under network adapters, it's showing a 3com card is installed which the
machine does not have and when i try to uninstall it it says "failed to
uninstall. device may be required to boot." also listed is:
admtek an983 10/100 pci adapter
direct parallel
linksys etherfast usb 10/100 ethernet adpater - packt scheduler miniport
(twice)
packet scheduler miniport #4
packet scheduler miniport #5
wan miniport (ip)
wan miniport (ip) - packet scheduler miniport
wan miniport (l2tp)
wan miniport (pppoe)
wan miniport (pptp)
none of which will uninstall as well and get the same message as above.

help please. i can't figure this out.

thanks much

eric

Eric, Did you ever figure this out. I have the same problem with a computer
that has networking but no internet. Mine fails on network internet,
dial-up,and direct dSL. I have started a post in windows xp/networking
issues category. How did you uninstall tcip and did it work?
Thanks
Bob S.
