Internet Connection Sharing

R

RG

I have 2 interfaces on my windows xp box. One interface is connected to
lan. The other is connected to pda via bluetooth. The lan network client
is routed to internet via ISA web proxy and firewall client. I am ISA Web
Proxy and Firewall Client to access internet.

I have started IFC/ICS service in the services snap-in. I saw advance
setting on the lan connection properties once, and I didn't see it since.
Could somebody tell me what I am doing wrong?

Perhaps, there a way to set up connection sharing through other means than
ICS?

Thanks in advance

Dear Customer,

In the Windows XP, the only way to sharing the Internet connection is to
using the ICS. Or, you also can use the third party application. (We don't
discuss the third party application usage here.)

Do you have the McAfee application installed?

It may add a key under the
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Network
Connections". Please check it. Delete the McAfee related key.

If not, please also check whether you have set network bridge between the
Local Area Connection and other interface. If yes, remove the bridge and
you should see the Advanced tab in the Network Connection Properties.

If it still does not work, let's do the following steps.

1. Stopped teh WMI service

2. Deleted the contents of the C:\Windows\System32\Wbem\Repository folder.

3. Rebooted.

Thanks for using Microsoft News Group!

Sincerely,
