Internet Connection Sharing

Hi,

wonder if anyone can help.

I've networked two xp machines over an ad-hox wireless network. It works
perfectly, with file sharing function, etc... The only issue is that I don't
seem to be able to share the host computer's internet connection with the
client computer over the wireless connection.

The host connects to the internet fine and I can share the internet
connection over a wired network between the two computers.

If I look at the Advanced tab for the wireless device on the host system,
there is no checkbox option to share the internet connection. This option is
found on all other network adapters on both systems, including the wireless
adapter on the client box.

So, do I need to some how get this option to appear on the host's wireless
adapter for ICS to work?

Many thanks.

I think you're looking in the wrong place. If I understand your
setup, the ad-hoc wireless connection is the home networking
connection, not the Internet connection. You enable sharing on the
host's Internet connection (dial-up, cable modem, DSL modem, etc).

Thanks Steve, the network bridge worked beautifully!

Strangely I had to uncheck "Automatically Detect Settings" from the Lan
settings in Internet Options otherwise it would take ages to display a page.

You're welcome, Andy.

"Automatically Detect Settings" is never the right setting for a
typical home network, which doesn't have a proxy server or an
automatic configuration server.
