Internet Connection Sharing problem: Windows XP client and W2000 host

Hello.

At home I have a wireless connection between a W2000
laptop and an XP laptop.

In setting up ICS, I find I can make it work where the XP
laptop is the host, sharing its dial-up internet
connection with the client 2000 laptop, such that a
browser on the 2000 laptop connects across the wireless
network to the XP laptop's shared dial-up connection &
finds that target website.

However, I cannot get this to work the other way round.
Where the 2000 laptop is the ICS host & the XP laptop is
the ICS client, a browser on the XP laptop makes no
attempt to connect to the 2000 laptop across the wireless
network & so the target website is not found.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks,
Tim

i dunno if this is any help or not. i had EXACTLY the same prob.. -_-
open internet explorer and go to tools, connections, and check the "never dial a connection" option
it was sooo simple.. but me and my dad spent ages fiddling with proxy settings and what not before we figured out. if it doesnt work... netscape communicater works for some reason.
