enabling file sharing in windows xp home

we have successfully connected a desktop (as the host) and a laptop (as the
client) through the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) feature of windows xp.
we also checked the File Sharing option. now, we are able to transfer files
from the host to the client but are unable to do so in reverse. the desktop
doesnt recognise the laptop in 'My Network Places'. is some permission
required to access the client PC? if so, from where do we change the
permission settings?

Run the Network Setup Wizard on the laptop. Tell the Wizard that the
computer connects to the Internet through another computer on your
network, and tell the Wizard to enable File and Printer Sharing.

If there's a firewall program (Norton, McAfee, PC-cillin, ZoneAlarm,
etc) on the laptop, configure it to allow access by other computers on
the local area network. Note that some antivirus programs have
firewall components that have to be configured.

Network browsing through My Network Places is notoriously unreliable.
Try accessing the laptop from the desktop directly. On the desktop,
type the laptop's actual computer name in the Start > Run box in this
format:

\\computer
