Internet connection sharing DNS problem

R

Ronald van Eekelen

I have installed Windows XP professional on my desktop PC. This server
is connected to the internet via a LAN connection with a PPPOE tunnel
to internet.

I have a second network adapter in this machine. Via internet
connection sharing (ICS) I share my internet connection with my laptop
(windows 2000), attached to this second network adapter using a
crosslink cable.

Now the connection works perfectly between the two machines, and the
ICS also works, I have internet on my laptop.... that is: only if I
search by IP address. Otherwise (for example for www.microsoft.com)
the response is always: cannot find server. What helps is to open the
webpage on my desktop machine first. After that, the name is resolved
and I can open the page on my laptop as well for a minute or so.

I've searched al the newsgroups but could not find a solution for this
problem. I hope someone here can help me out.
