Internet Connection Sharing as alternate

I have two WinXP computers connected in a tiny USB home
network. Both have modems for dial-up connections. But
since there is only one phone line, if one computer is
already connected to the Internet, then the other computer
cannot access the internet.

I would like to be able to have both computers use Dial-Up
as the primary method to access the Internet. But, if one
computer is already connected, and the other needs brief
access, is there a way to configure ICS so that each
computer may temporarily access the other's connection
across the USB network. (According to the vendor, PC-Linq
is compatible with ICS.)

I'm sorry, but that isn't possible. Only one computer at a time can
be configured to be the ICS host and share its connection.

Set the main connected computer as ICS. Don't set automatically dial - as I
have found it will always dial.
Set the other computer's IP Address to automatic - this will then get a
valid IP Address and the default gateway will be set correctly
(192.168.0.1).
That way - the one that only needs brief access will use the currently
established connection. If the main computer is not connected then you will
need to connect that one first.
