Internet Connection Problem

Ok... I don't know how this started, it just 'happened'. Whenever I open up Network Connections, it does not display my internet connection. In fact, the only way to connect to the internet is to open Internet Explorer and put the password in when the connection box appears. This is a very annoying problem, as the only way to disconnect is to turn the computer off. Not only that, but I need to get a hold of my IP address for a game with a friend (perhaps there is a way to do it otherwise... I'd like to know!). Any help would be appreciated.
 
Did u try to delete the connection and recreate the connection again. Sometimes this helps
