Internet connection lasts for only 1 min

After I installed windows SP2, I found that the internet connection lasts
only around the first one to two minutes. The IE, Outlook Express and other
Internet programs then had no repsonse to connect. But the broadband
connection status remained normal without auto disconnection. Even I clicked
to disconnect and re-connect, the IE still had no response. I had to reboot
in order to have another one minute connection.

I tried to turn the firewall on and off but nothing changed. Is there
anything I can try to resume the normal connection?

I am the first one to admit that I am no expert. I post more questions
that answers, so all I can offer is suggestions. If it has worked ok
at any time use system restore to go back to that time. You could try
running a repair on the connection. Go to control panel ->network
connections->right click on your internet connection and select repair
left click. You could also try. Windows key+R. Type MMC.
File->add remove snap in. Click on the add button. Select event viewer
and anything else that would be useful in monitoring/controlling your
machine. Ensure you have a good antivirus program running at all
times.
