Internet Connection Failure

Fishing for ideas.

When I try to access the 'Check for updtes' sub item in
the File menu, I get the following message 'Warning,
could not connect to the Internet.

Can someone help with this problem as I am regularly
connected to the Internet and can access all other
websites world wide.

Open Internet Explorer, click File and ensure that Work
Offline is not checked.

If using a firewall, make certain that it's not blocking
anything from microsoft.com.
