internet connection fail, need help!!!

My laptop have wireless internet. We also have wireless router at home. I can
connect to internet from a desktop but not able to connect from the laptop.
My laptop connection status show that there is no problem (connection icon
show connected) but I can not either ping or browse the internet. Do you know
why?

Are you getting an IP from DHCP or static, if static is it a valid
address on the same network, if DHCP are you running a DHCP server
somewhere..

I would say that is your problem.. otherwise, go to internet options,
tools, connections and choose LAN and choose direct connection to the
internet, also if your running a personal firewall on the pc then you
need to setup your lan settings in there too because by default they
block transit packets.

Is this a new setup?
I recently set up similar and couldn't get laptop and main PC to "see" each
other or laptop to connect to internet.
Turned out to be firewall (ZoneAlarm) which was blocking it.
When I added an identical IP range and subnet mask to ZA permitted zones on
both PC's all was OK.

Ok have you configured windows for internet connection sharing? on the
desktop go to my network places properties on the internet connection
and under one of those tags is allow other computers to use this
connection.
