Hi,

Perhaps you installed something or changed something on your system?
Some firewall programs install auto updates which can cause issues.

Yes i have the same problem but with all the games (internet spades, hearts, backgammon, etc). I think this happened when i installed the most recent critical updates but I could be mistaken. Either way I have yet to get any games working again...

Hi Andre,

Go back to your most recent restore point to see if that resolves this please.

Your exactly right. I can't play hearts, b'gammon, nothing. This all occurred after the last Win Update, now that you mention it. Sometimes I connect to the Server and the d'box just sits waiting for another player

MSoft.....what is the issue? I've played this stuff for years with XP and now it's stopped.

I am having the same problem with Internet Spades, it connects to the game server, but continously search for other players. Can someone help?

I just restore mines to an earlier date, and still unable to connect to other players. Does anyone having this problem have McAfee??

I restored to 4/13 (before the update). I still cannot either connect to the Internet Gaming Server -or- if I do it just looks for players without connection. Guys - there seems to be a problem.....watch the posts pile up

No other changes to my system, especially since the restore (and no auto updates of firewall S/W). I don't auto update anything

Thanks!!

This problem began occuring yesterday on many pc's after installing the latest Microsoft Update. I do not run McAfee but I do run Norton System Works, Zone Alarm and had no problems whatsoever until installing last update they notified everyone about yesterday. Hopefully they will patch this soon

Let's keep everyone here in the loop so we can let others know when a solution is found

Thanks

I had to reinstall xp 2 days ago after being contaminated (an ugly 15 hour process). I played internet backgammon virtually every day to that point. Since the reinstall, every time I click the icon, all i get is the attempt to find the internet game server, a request to retry or quit, and have not had a single successful connection. None of the other internet games patch through either (Spades, Hearts, Ceckers,etc.). This is more than annoying and I would think Microsoft would be able to fix this, and direct a solution and a way to speak with a technician to address & fix the problem. The Microsoft answer seems to be one of indifference, as I can find no way to directly address this problem specifically, and they have no answers or solutions available on-line that I can find. I have no idea how to fix what seems like it should be an easy problem to solve.

I believe the zone.com hang has everything to do with zone.com and nothing to do with individual PCs. I rarely update anything and the games just stopped working. On 4-14 as noted by others.

Ditto, mine stopped working also on all 4 computers on my network. This is not related to the latest critical update IMHO as mine quit working first, THEN I went to check updates to be sure that wasn't needed. No difference

It appears also to have nothing to do with either McAfee's or Nortons stuff as some have suggested as I have ruled these out

I believe something has happened on the game server

Does anyone know ANYONE who CAN still play these games? I have asked several friends to check on their computers and all report the same... Sits there looking for player..

I'm also having trouble connecting to Internet Backgammon and Reversi. I'm not happy. I havn't done any updates, or installed anything new. I'm no expert, I just play my games and do a bit of word processing. Help! I'm suffering withdrawals!

Hi Guys and Gals,

If this is a recent issue, it most likely is part of the collection that
Chris has passed up to Microsoft to be examined. Try a previous
restore point, or play the games directly at Zone.com temporarily
as a workaround until the issue is properly resolved please. :)

I think it is a microsoft game sevrer issue. I have the several systems and non will connect for backgammon. The only way I have been able to play lately is at the zon

This is absolutely ridiculous and frustrating. With all the automatic updates Microsoft continuosly makes available, I would think they would address this obviously widespread problem with an update that would fix it for everyone. I would think they are aware of the problem by now. Then again, do they really care??

Is it really the problem you're assuming it is? I have the same issue on
two machines which haven't been updated yet. You might want to check in the
proper newsgroup, microsoft.public.games.zone.

I have not been able to connect to backgammon and am so glad to see that I am not the only one. What should we do about it?

i experienced the 4/14 Block-Out with endless searching for a new opponent in Checkers. It occurs on up-dated and non up-dated computers I have. Can't figure why MS doesn't even discuss this. Is there a new day coming where these games won't be "free" anymore? Silence before the hold-up?
