Richard

Have been unable to play internet games: spades, hearts,
backgammon. Have disabled Norton anti-virus, same
result. It seems to connect to the system, but gets stuck
on looking for the other player/players. I have no
Kazaa, or morpheus, etc.

Microsoft is looking into the situation. When I hear something, I'll post
here.

Experiencing exact same problems. Also using Norton Antivirus. Applied all XP updates, network drivers, etc. with no effect. Can play when connected to www.zone.com, but client-side games hang on looking for other players.

Ditto here. The problem just surfaced in the last couple of days. Either the standard XP internet games hang connecting to the server, or they hang looking for expert players. The hang is of infinite duration. Mostly likely the problem arose from some change at the zone.com site.

evening of 4/13 i ran into the same problem--it seems to have occured after some windows were downloaded and installed

Same problem. Seems like the problem started after the
Windows security update just a couple of days ago!

I am having the same problem. It has been happening for a couple of days. I'm glad it isn't just me. I hope to hear something soon.

Please go to the microsoft.public.games.zone newsgroup. You're not alone,
but posting here won't help anything. We have people blaming Windows
Update, certain computer configurations, and now Norton, when it appears to
be a Zone problem.

Thanks for keeping a cool head during this situation Chris. :-)

Cheers,
Jimmy.

LOL! I don't play the Internet games. I'm refusing to participate until
Microsoft brings back LAN hearts. 8-) (Smart enough to not hold my breath
until that happens, huh?)

So... you lost your Hearts to the Internet then? ;-)

Cheers!
Jimmy.

Yup. 8-) Funny thing is years ago I taught 14 secretaries not to be afraid
of computers using Hearts LAN play.
