Internet applications can't connect.

I can connect to my ISP fine. But, any application that
uses the internet, such as: IE, AIM, Outlook Express,
just any program that uses the internet can't connect to
it. I thought it was a problem with my modem, but after
troubleshooting it extensively I've yet to determine the
problem. Any suggestions?
 
If you have alot of icons in the bottom right corner of
your task bar try removing some if not all of them and
give it a try. Keith
