Internet acces in safe mode only

Hello all,
I am "cleaning" one of the trashed computers in my house. It was loaded with
spyware and Virii. Now it is all clean (at least I hope) but I am unable to
access the internet unless I do it in the safe-mode.
Any recommendations short of a re-install?

Found this in another forum, but can't verify it. Might be worth looking at.
"I disabled the Network Bridge under the Network Connections settings. Boom,
everything worked. I have no clue why this is, but I'm happy."

and another said that they uninstalled "Norton antivirus" (poor Norton gets
blamed for everything!)

Also, try System File checker by going to Start/Run/type in sfc /scannow
(space between sfc and /scannow). You will be asked to insert your XP cd.

Found this from another post here. It is called ISP Fix and might do the
