internal publishing address

I am trying to publish my site internally.
I have IIS running on my machine and I have the 2002
extensions installed.
My machine name is mark and I currently have the default
web site pointed to a copy of my site - this is fine
except I can't test the search page etc which require the
site to be published to an extended server.
When I try to publish to http://mark I get an error
message saying the server does not have sharepoint
services installed.
I am running XP pro and FP 2003.
Is anybody able to help?

If, as you say, you're running XP Pro, IIS, and the
FrontPage 2002 Server extensions, then you should be able
to test Web Search pages locally. However, you need to use
an http:// URL like on of these:
http://127.0.0.1
http://localhost
http://mark

If you get a "service is not running" type of message:

1. Go to:
Administrative Tools
Computer Management
Indexing Service
2. Right-click Indexing Service and select Start.
3. Wait 5 or 10 minutes for Indexing Service to scan your
site.

The scan will be done when, after selecting Indexing
Service, the Docs To Index column in the right-hand pane
contains zero.

Your inability to publish to an internal http:// address
is more puzzling. Are you *sure* the server extensions are
installed?
