Internal mail considered as junk

Hi,

I'm having a problem with junk e-mail filtering. Mail from internal users
are sometime considered as junk. IMF is enabled on the server and working
correctly for external mail. Outlook 2003 on the client is in Cached Mode.
Users are on the same Exchange 2003 server. What can be the problem?

Well, Outlook is 'kind of' stupid in some ways. It has two concepts of safe
senders. Either they are Contacts in your primary mail store, or they are
on your Safe Senders list.

The Exchange GAL is not taken into consideration.

I forget, but, I think the IMF will work regardless if you turn on spam
filtering in Outlook, so, what happens if you turn it all the way down to
Off in Outlook?

After setting the filtering to "Off" in Outlook, internal mail is going to my
Inbox instead of the junk mail folder! It's working for me, so i'm going to
test it on a few users who are experiencing the same problem.

Thanks

Hi,

I still have problems with some users. Even if the filtering is at Off in
Outlook, many internals e-mail are dropped in the junk folder instead of the
Inbox. At server side, IMF is not enabled on the Virtual SMTP servers,
except on the Front-End server (We use OWA also). I don't understand why
e-mail from the same domain as the user, sent from inside the same
environment, as considered as junk.

Does IMF have something to do with that? I thought that IMF does not scan
internal e-mail?

After several verification, IMF is not even enabled on any SMTP Virtual
Servers. The users are using both Outlook 2003 and OWA 2003 to access their
e-mail. Is it possible that even if you put the settings to Off in Outlook,
when you log off Outlook and log in OWA, the e-mail will be processed as junk?
