Internal application error

Help...running XP with SP2 patched on some time ago, when trying to load
Windows Media 10 from my desktop and it keeps coming up "An internal
Application error has occured".
I have even tried re re download from microsoft and the same thing occured.
However, when I try to open the Media Player from my daughters desktop (same
computer)...No problem...so she can use it and i can't...VERY GALLING...can
someone help or give me a clue???
