After installing XP SP2, I get "an internal application
error has occurred" error message when trying to open
Windows Media Player 9.

I also installed XP SP2, and I found that it slowed my computer down
alot..and as I rebooted the computer it would take a full 10 min. before the
icons would even come up and even then as you moved the mouse it would freeze
the computer completley..I took it out

Run Windows Update, and download Windows Media Player 10. Greatly improved!
