After SP2 Media Player won't open wave files

Could you please tell me how to open wave files with Windows Media Player.
Wave files won't open after installation of XP SP2 and using Windows Media
Player 9 before and after SP2. I have reinstalled Windows Media Player 9
without effect. For the moment I'm using Creative WaveStudio to open my wave
files (1411 kbps, 16 bit, 44 kHz, stereo, PCM).
For the moment I won't upgrade to Windows Media Player 10.

Sincerely

Ok. Don't get WMP 10. I don't see why not though. It probably will fix
your problem. It works fine on mine.

Have you looked in the file-types-to-play part of WMP 9? Perhaps the .wav
box is unchecked ?

I'm using a danish Windows XP, WMP 10 is not yet released in danish, and
Microsoft recommend not to install a non-danish version.

Yes, I have checked that *.wav is not unchecked.

Further I have tested the *.wav files (different types of wave-files (8/16
bit, mono/stereo, 88 kbps/1411 kbps, sampling 11/44 kHz) in the folder
\Microsoft Office\Office10\Media and none of them Windows Media Player 9 can
open after installation of XP SP2.

Go to Media Players Tools - Options - File Types (you may need to use
Ctrl M to show the menu bar). Check the boxes for the types you want to
load in Media Player; making sure it does not grab types where you may
want to use something else. WAV files is the seventh box down
