WMP internal application error

Dear All.
Some guy gave me a search/destroy anti-virus disk to use.
I used it and my xp went crazy. I finally got the system running to a degree
but everytime i log on i get the message #INTERNAL APPLICATION ERROR HAS
OCCURRED#.
It's like the whole media player 10 has dissapeared, but the mp setup still
exists but it won't let me re-load.
Has anyone come across anything similar.
Please Help.

Some guy gave you a disk with an unknown utility called "search/destroy"
and you ran it?! What were you trying to do?

At this point, there is no way for people reading about the problem (and
you've supplied almost no information about your system and why you
felt you needed to run this disk) in a newsgroup to help you. You would
be best served by either:

1. Provide a lot more information if you want help from this newsgroup.
Here's a link that will show you what you should include in your post:

or

2. Take your machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your
local version of BigStoreUSA).

or

3. Back up your data, format the drive, and clean-install Windows. Do
not connect the machine to the Internet until you have installed
Service Pack 2, made sure its firewall is enabled, and installed an
antivirus program.

Who knows what happened to the system. You might be best suited by
doing a clean install, install programs from their original media and
restore data from backups.

One option is to try a system restore to a date before you used that disk.
