intermittent internet connectivity

I have recently started experiencing dropouts in my ability to connect to the
internet. I have a 2 computer network and the problem is appearing randomly
and un-synchronized on the 2 computers. I have McAfee firewall, virusscan,
and anti-spyware on both machines. Connectivity appears to come and go in
randoms spells of minutes to hours with no configuration changes on my part.
I have already contacted the computer manufacturer (hardware problems), the
ISP provider (Comcast cable), and Microsoft pay-by-incident support with no
resolution after going through all the normal troubleshooting exercises.

Some of the discussions in this forum point at spyware contamination of
winsock, firewall interference, etc. Any suggestion on how to proceed?

I had the same problem and got it solved by changing channels in the
configuration. When you can get online go to http://192.168.1.1. Put in
your user name - probably admin, and then your password. Choose the
wireless tab and go to channels. As I recall, I changed form 1 to either 6
or 11. Good luck.

I forgot to mention that before going online, you should connect the
ethernet cable from the port on your computer to one of the four ports on
the router. Leave everything else as it is.
