Intermittent 0x800ccc15 error

Hi,

We've just installed a XP Pro machine for our owner and
imported his .pst file over to his new machine. We've
used Outlook 2k on both machines. The error occurs when
hitting send/receive. If the PC is rebooted Outlook
seems to work fine for a while, but eventually the error
will come back w/in a few hours. We've tried turning off
all power saving (nic included) uninstalling/reinstalling
office, re-importing .pst file etc. Nothing seems to
work. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I use both Outlook Express and Outlook 2000.
The problem only occurs in Outlook. I can only reboot to regain connectivity.

That error indicates that Outlook was unable to connect to a network socket
in order to communicate with your mail servers. I suspect that there's
something wrong with the networking on the machine in question.

I won't argue but why does Outlook Express work just fine connecting to the
same mail server as Outlook where I do get the error?

I won't argue but why do I get the 0x800ccc15 error in Outlook 2000 but not
in Outlook Express although they connect to the same mail server? I surmise
the problem is (was) in Outlook.

That's a good question, because Outlook uses low-level code from Outlook
Express to make those connections, so I don't see how they could work
differently. Do you have any third-party addins to Outlook (anti-spam,
anti-virus, something else)? It could be that some other program is
interfering with Outlook in some way.

I am having the same problem with Outlook also. NAV 2004 is also installed on
the machine. I have 2 machines with the same setup but the error occurs only

What version of Outlook do you have? What happens if you disable NAV's
scanning of your email?

I'm running Outlook XP 2002 and the problem started after loading XP SP 2 on
the machine. When NAV is disabled, I get an Outlook Send/Receive error of
0x800CCC15.

I have Outlook XP 2002 running on the machine and get the 0x800CCC15
send/receive error when NAV is disabled. These errors started after loading
SP2

Ugh. I'm afraid that I don't have any other suggestions. The code that is
returning that error isn't even in Outlook - it's in part of Outlook Express
that is included in Windows - and I really have no idea what Outlook could
be doing that could cause this to happen. Sorry...
